Todd Germain

Chief Todd Germain has over 30 years of professional fire, emergency management, and emergency medical service experience. He retired from the Portsmouth NH Fire Department in the fall of 2002. Chief Germain rose up through the ranks in Portsmouth first as a Lieutenant in 2006 then as a Captain/Shift Commander in 2011 and then finally as Chief of Department in 2019. He successfully and safely helped to navigate the city and department through the COVID-19 pandemic as both the Fire Chief and Emergency Management Coordinator. Chief Germain was one of the first paramedics in Portsmouth and helped develop and institute the department’s Advanced Life Support Program.

 

Throughout his career, Chief Germain has emphasized firefighter health and wellness, fostering labor/management relationships, employee morale, customer service and community engagement.

 

He holds an associate’s degree in Fire Science with continued studies in management through the University System of New Hampshire as well as many specialty certificates and licenses.

 

Chief Germain lives in Fort Collins with his wife Wendy. They enjoy camping, hiking, live music and travel.
