Welcome to the Wellington Fire Protection District

In 1905 community members formed the Wellington Fire Department. For almost five decades the department was funded by dues and donations. In 1951 the citizens of Northeastern Larimer County voted to form a Fire Protection District. The District includes the communities of Wellington, Waverly, and Buckeye. The boundaries extend to the state line to the north, the county line to the east, County Road 58 to the south and roughly Highway 287 to the west. To this day the District is still an all volunteer department. It now has a budget based on property values within the district and is funded by a mill levy voted on by the residents. Due to it's volunteer nature the fire department requires community participation to provide adequate services to the citizens.
