WFPD Cadets

The Wellington Fire Protection District has a very active cadet program. It gives teenagers great opportunities to be exposed to all aspects of the fire services. There are current and past members on the department that have gone through this cadet program.

Current Cadets:
Pettit, Austin
Birt, Daniel
Noel, Eddie

Requirements for eligibility:
1. Both males and females ages 14 through 17.
2. Live within the district (Wellington or Waverly area).
3. Have a method of transportation to and from the station for responding to calls, trainings, meetings and special functions.
4. Parents are not required to be department members.

Benefits of being a cadet:
1. Able and encouraged to attend and participate in all department trainings.
2. Can respond to the station on all emergency calls and are allowed to be part of the responding crew on certain calls.
3. Gain great hands on experience and get an introduction into fire science and EMS (emergency medical services).
4. Can be an active participant in various department functions including: Fourth of July activities, Christmas parade and chili supper, Santa day, annual banquet, summer family picnic and other events that occur periodically throughout the year.

What is provided:
1. Department issued pager.
2. Protective Wild land gear.
3. Ongoing training to assure the maximum personal safety.
